Which is more suitable for a motorcycle jacket: leather or faux fur?

I heard someone say that imitation leather does not offer much protection as leather in an accident. Is that true? seems to be offered the same protection. Besides, I always feel warmer when I wear my leather jacket PVC – My mom says it's because imitation skin breathe – which is good for winter, bad for the summer. I would like to know for sure – so anyone has references or reliable sources? The views are good too.
